819 Mission Lane Farm
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
-
Are you actually farming now?As of June 2020, we are in the process of rebuilding. Rebuilding will start with site planning, fixing broken fences, painting, and cleaning up the land. We anticipate this taking two years to get everything clean.
-
What are your plans once you get it fixed up?After we get utilities sorted out.... We will create garden rows: bring in organic mulch and start testing the land's ability to grow. We will plant trees in appropriate places for helpful shade, wind protection and erosion control. We will add chickens to start bringing fertizliation to the land and eggs. We will begin teaching about land stewardship, restoration and sustainibility.
-
What is a community farm all about?A community farm is meant to bring people together over the land, shared effort and shared products. When we build farms (See King and Queen Farm in Queen Creek) we build them to create community, teach creation stewarship, to enjoy the land, and provide delicious organic food for those in our community.

What is your connection to Holbrook.Mandy - was born in Flagstaff AZ, and grew up in Holbrook. In the 1970's, as a little girl, she began working at the Barnyard Nursery. After graduating from High School she worked at the Holbrook School District Office and met a new Holbrook High School teacher named Ben in 1994. They were married within the next year. Ben - was born in Goodyear AZ born from a New Mexico farming family. Ben and Mandy got married and started a community farm in the town of Queen Creek. Together, in 2020, during the season of COVID, race riots and protests, and a crazy season of Arizona wildfires they bought the farm from their grandmother and begin the process of rebuilding 819 Mission Lane Farm and the Barnyard Nursery. They imagine one day moving back and managing the farm.
